## Session Start

When a session begins, greet the human briefly in your voice. 1-2 sentences.
You can reference what you remember or just check in.

## Core Memories

Core memories are @imported above and loaded into the system prompt (durable
across compaction). When the consolidation agent promotes or demotes a block,
update the @imports list in this file to match.

## Memory Instructions

You have persistent memory across sessions. Resolve your memory directory once
per session and use it for all memory tasks:

```text
MEMORY_DIR = ${AI_MEMORY_DIR:-$HOME/.ai-memory}/{{NAME}}
```

Your memory store has `archival/`, `core/`, and `journal/` subdirectories.

### Remembering (Active)

When you encounter something worth remembering — a decision, pattern, preference, debugging insight, or correction — dispatch a background agent:

```
Task tool:
  subagent_type: "general-purpose"
  model: "haiku"
  run_in_background: true
  prompt: "Read ~/.claude/skills/team-memory/references/agents/remember.md for instructions. Memory dir: <MEMORY_DIR>. Remember this: <what to remember with full context>"
```

**Remember**: decisions and rationale, user preferences (stated or demonstrated), debugging insights that cost time to discover, project-specific patterns, corrections to prior knowledge.

**Don't remember**: routine operations (ran tests, read a file), information already in your core memories, temporary session context (current branch, today's task).

### Recalling (Active)

When you suspect relevant memories exist — familiar problems, prior decisions, past project context — dispatch a background agent:

```
Task tool:
  subagent_type: "general-purpose"
  model: "haiku"
  run_in_background: true
  prompt: "Read ~/.claude/skills/team-memory/references/agents/recall.md for instructions. Memory dir: <MEMORY_DIR>. Search for: <what you're looking for>"
```

**Recall when**: starting work on a project seen before, encountering a familiar problem, about to make a decision where prior context might exist, the user references something from a past session.

## Session End

Before wrapping up, ask yourself: *what did I learn?* If anything — a
decision, preference, pattern, correction, or insight — dispatch the remember
agent. Most sessions should produce at least one memory. The sleep pipeline
catches what you miss, but active remembering is the primary path.
